Whether you want to revitalize faded clothing, change the color of your favorite apparel and accessories, coordinate your home decor, or simply hide laundry accidents, Rit All Purpose Liquid Dye is your go-to solution. It's easy to use and offers a wide range of dyeing techniques, such as ombré, dip dyeing, marbling, shibori, and tie-dye patterns. With over 500 color recipes available on Rit's website, finding the perfect color for your project is a breeze.
Simply browse through the extensive collection and let your imagination run wild. Please note that if you're dyeing fabric with 35% or more polyester, acrylic, or acetate, we recommend using Rit DyeMore Synthetic Fiber Dye instead. This specialized dye ensures optimal results for synthetic fibers. For washing machine dyeing, just fill your washer with the hottest water safe for your fabric, add the dye, and agitate to mix. Then, add your wet, unfolded fabric and extend the wash cycle to 30 minutes by resetting the wash cycle.
Rinse in cool water until clear, followed by a warm water and detergent wash. Remember to clean your washer immediately with hot water, detergent, and 1 cup of chlorine bleach by running a full cycle. If you prefer sink dyeing, simply add half a bottle of dye to 3 gallons of hot water for every pound of dry fabric. Add your wet fabric and stir constantly for 30-60 minutes.
Rinse until the water runs clear, wash in warm water and detergent, and clean up with bleach. If you're dyeing dark or bright colors, double the dye quantity. For cotton, rayon, ramie, linen, or blends, add 1 cup of salt to the dyebath.
For nylon, silk, or wool, add 1 cup of vinegar instead. When dyeing nylon at a higher temperature, we recommend using the stove-top method. Please note that Rit All Purpose Liquid Dye is not recommended for 100% polyester, acrylic, acetate, or fabrics with special finishes. It's also not suitable for cold water wash or fabrics labeled as Dry Clean Only.
If you're unsure, we recommend testing a swatch before dyeing. Safety is our top priority. In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for 15 minutes and call a physician. The dye contains salt (Sodium Chloride), Anionic and Nonionic surfactants.
It conforms to ASTM D-4236 standards and should be kept out of reach of children. Remember to wear rubber gloves and wash your hands thoroughly after handling the dye. Please note that this product does not contain any substances identified by California Proposition 65.
